The Velvet Story

December 15, 2016

Finally! My favourite month of the year is here! December! I shouldn't even say "Finally" my immediate reaction should be "WOW" I really can't believe it's the end of 2016! An incredible year with so much of everything & the best part of it being the business, fun & the pace with which the month is racing ahead! December is also my birthday month, that's like the icing on the cake! Haha. What's the trend you are going to be sporting for the party season? For me, it's the velvet trend! Velvet is one of the super hit trends this season. This quintessential 90's trend has made a definitive comeback this fall, dominating runways everywhere. It looks vintage, classy & rich! All at the same time. There are a lot of things to try out in this fabric. We have Bombers or other jackets, camisoles or slip dresses , play suits and so on! It's not restricted to just apparels. Thigh high boots in velvet fabric is another bold beauty.

Here Usaamah and I created a formal dinner party look with our favourite trend. I went for a Pant Suit from - Deme by Gabriella as I love power dressing and the Deep Emerald Green colour just adds to it. I wore a Black Camisole top under it to make the look subtle and keep it classy but decided to go with Marsala boots for an added contrast colour. As for the make-up, I kept it minimal and nude but went with ahead with a graphic eyeliner. That's another trend I'm absolutely in love with. I opted to have Velvet as the fabric for my whole outfit while Usaamah on the other hand went just for a blazer. He chose a Wine coloured Velvet Blazer from his own label - The Dapper Label, thereby bringing in his own distinguished style to our look. Here is what he had to say "I've styled this Wine Velvet Dinner Jacket to break the monotony from the usual blues & blacks. I've paired them with English dress slippers. Velvet, being a rich fabric should always be paired with classics like patent leather dress slippers with tassels and the works."

When it comes to velvet, there a lot you can experiment with but always remember and try to keep the look solid and minimal. So tell me what according to you is the best trend this season and how you are trying to keep up with it! ;)
Until next time, enjoy this one! XX
